The story of our first 5 events
Off to a flyer
I can barely believe it, a new start-up mobile bar delivers 5 events in its first 5 weeks, we could have only dreamt of that type of success early on, yet we have achieved it, Northern Box Bar is delivering us a world in which we push the boundaries and as a result, achieve marvellous things.
So now is the time to reflect on those first 5 events and capture the memories for us to look back on, it all started with The Animals.
The Mytholmroyd ‘Rise Up’ festival is where it all began, 2000 people packed into the community sports field in a stunning Yorkshire village within Calderdale where we placed our mobile bar for the very first time.
We had grand ideas of having a few beers ourselves whilst taking in the music event in all its splendour, little did we know that we’d process in excess of 500 customers.
Admittedly we’d had little, to no time, to practise our processes and the festival was very busy, but what we achieved left us incredibly satisfied, every customer left with a smile on their face, mission accomplished.
In someways it was the perfect start for us, hit it hard on the first event, it very much gave us the confidence that we can handle big numbers, in fact we all felt that we could have handled more, there’s confidence for you.
As for The Animals, they were amazing, we didn’t really see much of them, we were busy serving, but they sounded incredible.
The Village Fete
In comparison, our 2nd event was far smaller but equally as satisfying.
,The location was once again Calderdale, this time the stunning village of Southowram, located high above the towns of Halifax and Brighouse.
It was a local event organised to celebrate dance, combine this with perfect summer sun and the the drinks begin to flow, particularly with those involved in the dad dancing, fuelling themselves with dutch courage.
The smell of hot dogs and tomato ketchup wafted through the air, family smiles at the enjoyment of the whole event were evident, once again Northern Box Bar praised not only for its distinctive looks, but also for our quality of service.
Pool Time
Who would have thought it? 28c temperatures, Yorkshire and an outdoor swimming pool.
This event was more of a social occasion than a booked event, Mark Parkinson from The Fleece at Barkisland near Ripponden has been our adviser throughout our project, his experience in hospitality is unrivalled, as is his knowledge of conducting the perfect wedding bar, a key component of Northern Box Bar offering.
Mark and our co-founder Chris Blackburn met whilst filming together with Mary Berry many years ago, their friendship has continued to blossom ever since, so when Mark picked up the phone and asked if we wanted to bring the bar to a birthday party, we were only too happy to oblige.
Held at the stunning Woodcroft Estate, this incredible location is available to rent, it sleeps up to 32 people in 9 bedrooms and is available to hire via the Celebration Cottages website.
The Corporate Gig
When the guys at Big Red in Huddersfield wanted to treat their employees to a summer spectacular there was only one bar they had in mind, Northern Box Bar.
They needed a Mobile Bar based in Yorkshire that could easily navigate into their private courtyard and join the hog roast company and magician that would entertain their staff to thank them for their hard work in 2022.
Partnering with a corporate organisation so early in our journey is a dream come true, often businesses need access to facilities like ours for mid-week events, it’s these occasions that will allow us grow Northern Box Bar in the years to come.
Speaking of the event Danielle Unwin, Marketing Manager at Big Red said;
“I just want to say a huge thank you to your guys for everything they did for us on Friday. Our team had a fantastic time, and we were so impressed with everything. We’ll certainly use you again in future”
Excellent feedback Danielle, we look forward to working with you at future events.
A Celebration of Life
Our 5th event will be remembered for being the ultimate in elegant events, hosted at the exquisite Devonshire Arms Hotel and Spa in the stunning village of Bolton Abbey, North Yorkshire, the event was organised by mum and daughter team Shirley and Sarah.
A Champagne reception, BBQ, Jazz Band & Fire Works, the event had it all, the addition of Northern Box Bar was to serve the very best cocktails from a menu designed by Sarah.
Accompanying us in evening hospitality was a mobile Fish & Chip van and the most amazing stone-baked pizza truck.
The highlight of the evening was without doubt the fireworks, an incredible spectacular put together by the guys at Optimum Fireworks in Keighley.
A huge thank you to Sarah and her mum Shirley for having the trust in us to deliver this unforgettable evening.
Commenting on the event Sarah said “You guys are incredible and helped make it such an amazing evening.
Thank you for being so friendly, considerate and making the process such a joy from start to finish.
Couldn’t recommend you more highly for a wonderful event, Thank you.”
